hey everyone! we know it's been almost two months since you've heard anything from TGB but we moved to Las Vegas NV to seek out a drummer and start our album. as it turns out we are moving back to Albuquerque tomorrow and we are looking at some drummers in New Mexico. the new album is still being written, but we wanna make sure we have that solid third member before we get into the studio. we also have some other offers in LA to do a record and we are weighing all options. we are very blessed to have so many awesome choices right now. living in Las Vegas has been INSANE! some days were 115 degrees and July was the hottest month on record for the 702 w/an average month long temp of 96.2 degrees! we accomplished and learned a lot living here for several weeks w/no jobs, income, drummer or gigs to play. but now it's time to come home and regroup for the next chapter. we have some awesome shows comin up too! we get to support our old friends in Bodies of Evidence for their cd release and then we get to see all our ALL AGES crowd at the NM State Fair on the main stage at the Ford Pavillion! we are heading to Socorro too so make sure you stay posted for whats to come!

we have decided on a producer, studio & target date for the new TGB record too! we will be moving to Las Vegas, NV, in July to record our first album for our label Dirtbag Music. tracking will be done by the end of Oct 2010 and we hope to have a CD release around the holidays. Las Vegas all-star guitarist/producer Ronnie Mancuso (current Beggars & Thieves guitarist, ex-Jeff Beck Band rhythm guitarist) has agreed to take on the project and will be at the helm in his Sin City studio.

meanwhile we will be warming up new material on tour in the western USA May 27-June 25! all dates are now being posted on our site! if you're in NM, AZ, CO, UT, NV, CA or TX we are comin for you!

mike got spiked – Live and Acoustic

It’s the calm before the storm for Irish schizo-rock four-piece mike got spiked, as they gear up for the release their maiden live and acoustic album worldwide, on April 23, 2010.

The album is the band’s first official recorded output in four years, and is the first of two full-length offerings in 2010, with their sophomore studio album set to be dropped later in the year.

Recorded live at The Cat Club in Hollywood, California in late 2009, the album sees a mixture of old favourites and new material given the acoustic treatment – something of a departure for an act normally known for the frenzied, loud intensity of their live sets.

That is a craft they have spent honing Stateside since their move from Irish shores in 2006. The venture has featured coast-to-coast tours, a slot on the Vans Warped Tour and signing to one of America's top management companies, Associated Talent Management, who also feature the likes of the Dead Kennedys on their roster.

Their intoxicating combination of influences and sounds makes mike got spiked a nightmare to pinhole but a joy to listen to, while dollops of mischievous on-stage banter augment the band's unique live experience.

mike got spiked Live and Acoustic will initially be a download-only release, available from all major outlets such as iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, MySpace and Napster.

i was rushing into the uhaul store on eubank & indian school in late july of 2006. it was time to hit the road for 18 days and i was running a little behind. i had to get us a trailer and get it packed so we could get outta town. the younger dude w/short hair and a little goatee behind the counter lit up as i stepped forward to start the rental process. he said,"youre in The Ground Beneath! I saw you guys play w/Requiem Mass at the Zone! you guys are my two favorite bands!" obviously this guys had taste! haha this was the first encounter i can remember w/our good bud Will Beneath. man did we know when HE was at a show. he was the little skinny guy amidst us heftier slightly older looking gentleman but man could he throw down in a pit! Will loved heavy music and he loved going to see it live even better. i remember going to see Filter in 2008 and Will and his little brother really wanted a pic w/Richard Patrick. i knew Rich from when we opened for Army of Anyone so i was more than happy to set them up. recently Will and the rest of the Uhaul crew have been even closer friends to us. im so glad he was at my birthday party last june. not just the show but the party after at my old house. the last time i saw Will was at the Launchpad on New Year's Day. im really glad we hung out all night the night before that too at the TGB New Year's Eve bash. Will was a great guy and i cant believe we lost him less than 24 hours ago to a motorcycle accident. i dont know the details but i know Will always wore his helmet and that he was killed instantly and he didnt suffer. he is survived by his friends from Uhaul and his little brother and his girlfriend Jessica who are all friends of ours. we are saddened tonight by the news and we will have a great dedication to him at the next ABQ show Apr 23rd at Atomic Cantina (one of Will's favorite places). he was always in good humor... he even described the pic above this as "Douche bag impression pic" on his myspace... below is a series of pics from my bday show last june... that's Will in the bad religion shirt... he loved metal and punk! these pics are how i remember him. right in front of me at a show and the first to get on stage or get in the pit! in these pics he and his friends get on stage for MINE and sang it almost louder than me! love ya man! we all miss you! steve beneath
